The Bible is filled with stories of great adventures, long journeys, and travel roadblocks. It’s also our roadmap for walking through life with Jesus by our side. If you’re planning a vacation this summer, check out these Bible verses for travel before you hit the road.

Psalm 23:3

“He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.”

New International Version

In the familiar Psalm of David, we’re reminded to not fear, even when we’re walking through the darkest of valleys. After a scary year of lockdowns, disease, loss, and uncertainty, it’s exciting that the world is starting to open back up again.

But it’s natural to have a little bit of fear along with that excitement, especially as we all adjust to this “new normal”. Of course, getting back into travel is a big part of that, after being stuck at home for so long.

God wants us to explore His creation though—finding renewal in the beauty of all that he has made. Travel is the perfect way to do that, and God will always be there to guide you through new territory.

Proverbs 3:23

“Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble.”

New International Version

Wisdom to live by fills the Proverbs, and this is the perfect verse to leave before you travel. You may have picked the destination and created your itinerary, but God chooses your path. Like every step in life, God’s there to keep you safe on vacation too! Remember the words of Proverbs 3:23 next time you’re traveling.

Deuteronomy 2:7

“The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything.”

New International Version

Deuteronomy is about a long, tough journey that ended with the promise of hope and wellness for God’s people.

And just like He did with Moses and the Israelites, God will be watching over your travels too, ensuring that you have everything you need. Whether that’s time to relax and renew your soul on the beach or protection on your camping trip, God’s got you.

Ezra 8:21

There, by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions.

New International Version

What does the night before a family vacation look like in your home? Typically, it’s chaotic. You’re packing frantically, checking on those last-minute details, and getting the house ready to leave. But Ezra reminds us that before we leave, we should be humbling ourselves before God—asking Him to protect us on our journey.
